BioThis is my journal for archiving my fanfiction, which relates to the characters The Joker and Harley Quinn from the world of Batman, and the exploration of their kinky, bizarre, abusive and compelling relationship.

JokerxHarley are my OTP and I present their relationship as being a kinky, conscious Dominant/submissive relationship with power exchange and tolerated abuse as well as being mutually loving.
I do not white-wash Joker, or try and present him as anything other than a mass-murdering sociopathic clown. In my fics, he is manipulative, conniving, cunning and devious as well as being physically and verbally abusive towards Harley. I take the perspective he loves Harley, but is in a state of conflict about this and literally does not know how to cope with or process these feelings, as they are so alien to his nature. He is beyond empathy or consideration, a narcissist who can only consider his own gratification. He resents his feelings for Harley, when he even bothers to acknowledge them, as they confuse him, and will take this out on Harley.
However, he also participates consciously as a Dominant in the relationship, understanding that Harley responds to this positively and gets gratification and satisfaction from it, as he does as well. He is a true sadist and delights in causing her pain, particularly when she consents to it as an act of submission to him.
Given Joker's mercurial and changeable nature, I can also envisage him having moments of playfulness and affection towards her, and this is also reflected in my fictions.
Harley is equally as complex. Joker is literally her drug, her addiction, and she is obsessed with him and completely in his thrall. As she no longer has any firm grip on reality, she considers their relationship normal, including the abuse she receives. So skewed is her view of reality that she is more upset about angering her Mistah J than she is about getting a whupping.
I try to steer a little away from her being an out-and-out doormat. I instead approach it as a blurring of the lines between consensual D/s and abuse, something which can occur easily in D/s relationships. The participants in these type of relationships can lose track of when the line is crossed, which leads the relationship into abuse. As Joker is a narcissist who expects everyone to fall into line with what he wants, Harley is obliged to comply with this or risk losing the relationship, which she can not tolerate. However, she is still a human being with needs of her own and attempts to assert this in what ways she can, often through covert and manipulative ways she learns along the way.
Additionally, Harley is a conscious participant as a submissive in the relationship, who gets true pleasure from obeying her Puddin' and seeing his needs met and fulfilled. She also has a bright masochistic streak which lets her immensely enjoy Mistah J's rough play when it's not enacted in anger.
A further word on the D/s dynamic: you won't find traditional leather, bondage, whips and chains here, no gimp gear and gas masks, no cliched ritualised play sessions which have a defined beginning and ending, no safeword - nothing contrived basically, though I don't use that word in a negative sense. The D/s here is fully integrated into their lives, not officially acknowledged but definitely 24/7. It's simply a part of who they are and their relationship with each other.
